Agriculture Commission
The Agriculture Commission is charged with undertaking efforts and providing advice that will help preserve and sustain the agriculture industry in North Branford and its lands; encourage pursuit of agriculture; and protect farmland through education, communication, conflict resolution, regulatory advice and promoting the economic viability of farming.

Blueprint Committee
The Blueprint Committee was created by the Town Council by resolution in May of 2023. The purpose of the committee is to evaluate previous town land use studies, develop a scope for the future land use study requested by the Town Council, and to recommend a plan for the comprehensive use of all town properties to the Town Council.

Board of Assessment Appeal
The Board of Assessment hears appeals from decisions of the Assessor. It is empowered to change assessments in order to correct any inequities it may discover.

Board of Police Commissioners
The Board of Police Commissioners shall have general management and supervision of the Police Department of the town and of the property and equipment used in connection therewith and shall make all needful regulations for the government thereof not contrary to state or local law and may prescribe suitable penalties for the violation of any such regulation.

Conservation & Inland Wetlands & Watercourses Agency
The Wetlands Agency protects wetlands and watercourses and may issue permits for regulated activities in areas designated as wetlands and watercourses. The Conservation Commission is responsible for updating the open space plan, maintaining records of all open space inventory and promoting conservation related program.

Economic Development Commission
The North Branford Economic Development Commissions strives to provide a climate for business to start, operate and grow while always keeping in mind the character of the town by working through programs, advising on policies and partnering with other agencies to promote business expansion, retention and attractions.

Housing Authority
The North Branford Housing Authority operates pursuant to the North Branford Town Charter and to the Connecticut General Statutes Section 8-40. Appointment to this Commission shall be pursuant to the Charter and to the state statutes.

Library Board
The Library Board serves in an advisory capacity to the Town Manager in the appointment of the Library Director and performs other functions on behalf of the Library Department.

Parks & Recreation Commission
The Parks and Recreation Commission has control and jurisdiction over all parks, playgrounds and recreational centers and areas and other places which have previously, or may in the future, be dedicated to the purpose of parks or public recreation in the Town of North Branford excepting, therefrom, all buildings, lands, apparatus and other property used for school purposes, pursuant to Sections 10-220 and 10-240 of the Connecticut General Statutes.

Pension Committee
The Pension Committee administers and advises on town employee pension plans. It is comprised of eight members- the Town Manager, the Finance Director, two members of the Town Council, one member of the Board of Education, one member of the Board of Fire Commissioners, one member of the Police Commission, and one member of the Police Union.

Permanent Project Building Committee
Selected Town construction projects are entrusted to the Permanent Project Building Committee by Town Council to provide construction oversight, monitor project costs and insure that quality facilities are built for Town agencies and public service.

Planning & Zoning Commission
The Planning and Zoning Commission adopts and updates a Plan of Development, Zoning Regulations and Subdivision Regulations. Other responsibilities include the review and approval of commercial and industrial site plans, re-subdivision/subdivision developments, zoning map and text amendments, and recommendations on various referrals.

Public Safety Communications Committee
The committee shall work to review, examine and discuss safety communications in the Town of North Branford; hear, investigate and review all issues from citizens about safety communication matters; advise the Town Manager on policy, procedures and technology related to the emergency dispatch center; and develop plans to be submitted to the Mayor and Town Council for enhancing safety communication in the case of disaster or emergency, and for preserving the peace, mitigating the results and rendering aid as a result thereof.

Solid/Hazardous Waste & Recycling Committee
The purpose of North Branford's Solid/Hazardous Waste and Recycling Committee is to develop and implement environmentally sound solutions and best practices for solid waste disposal and recycling management on behalf of our town.

Town Center Sub-Committee
The Town Center Subcommittee was formed by the Blueprint Committee in May of 2024 to examine possibilities for the creation of a public town center space for the Town of North Branford. The subcommittee will report its recommendations to the Blueprint Committee.

Veterans Service Commission
The Veterans Service Commission was created by the Town Council to provide support and recognition to our Town's veteran community with the aim of creating events and promoting awareness and recognition for those who have served our nation in the armed forces.

Zoning Board of Appeals
The Zoning Board of Appeals hears appeals from decisions of the Zoning Enforcement Officer, and considers applications for variances of zoning regulations, and location of motor vehicle licenses.
