Central Services - Purchasing

The Central Services Department is responsible for two distinct functions for the Town of North Branford, Purchasing and Risk Management.

Purchasing is responsible for procurement and/or contracting for all suppliers, materials, equipment, other commodities and contractual services required by any department, office, agency, board or commission of the Town government, except the board of education.

Risk Management

Risk Management is responsible for loss control, litigation, claims management, contract management, occupational safety and health, insurance and risk financing. Additional functions include loss control, safety training and drug testing.

Purchasing Guidelines

A formal bid process is used for bids exceeding $10,000 for all departments except Public Works threshold is $15,000. A formal Request for Quotation or RFQ is used for bids less than $10,000. While a Request for Proposal or RFP is used to obtain proposals for professional services or when goods and service specifications cannot be developed that are sufficiently precise to make a selection solely based on price.
